Today, my friend Len came to the shop with me and helped remove the engine.

Here's the transmission. We actually pulled the engine and transmission as a unit and separated them afterwards. Unfortunately I forgot to get pictures of the process.
We removed the clutch and flywheel as well as the starter motor.
The motor fits nicely into the wife's volvo.
